As a Toronto city councilor and humanitarian, I know that the investment
in the Caravan of Hope leverages so much more than the up-front costs. As a City, our small contribution of a couple of ambulances bolsters the work of hundreds of hours of volunteers and provides healthcare to thousands of the most vulnerable. Your contribution to the Caravan will help stretch those limited resources further and spread more health care and more hope.
Joe Mihevc Toronto City Councillor, Ward 21, St. Paul’s West
Toronto emergency medical services (ems) is all about people helping people - not only in the diverse communities that make up the rich and colourful fabric of this great City, but also in our global community.
As EMS Chief, I strongly believe that we have an important role to play in the advancement of pre-hospital care in all parts of the world. Many years ago, I was part of the team that established the first ambulance service in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This was a tremendous experience for me and I count it as one of the highlights of my 37 year career in EMS. The dedicated efforts of Father Hernan Astudillo and the members of the San Lorenzo Anglican Parrish have established the Caravan of Hope as a most worthwhile endeavor and the perfect opportunity for EMS to continue with our global outreach and share our knowledge and skills with those in need.
Bruce Farr, Chief / General Manager Toronto Emergency Medical Services
As a South African Canadian Jewish woman, the Caravan of Hope has
transformed my life! Through the Caravan, I have realized my desire to be a force for change in the world. This project is testament to the unwavering support of the many generous Torontonians who believe in the Caravan’s vision of Hope.
From my participation in the first Caravan in 2001 to the planned 14 ambulances in 2010, the Caravan has grown by leaps and bounds and has become an ever more powerful force for change.
Michelle Maron Caravan of Hope driver to El Salvador in 2001 and 2002
On behalf of the people of El Salvador, I want to thank the people of Toronto for their generous support for their brothers and sisters in El Salvador.
Your dedication and contributions provide much-needed aid to the most vulnerable.
Salvador Sánchez Cerén Vice President of El Salvador
